The Impact of Class Gifts
We are grateful for the input of graduating and reunion classes who come together to make milestone class gifts. These gifts make an important difference to students, helping to advance management theory and practice at MBS.
The Class of 2009
The Class are supporting two projects with their Class Gift. Their support has created the annual student leadership lunch to thanks and acknowledge the contribution that student leaders make to the MBS community. They are also seeking to endow a scholarship in perpetuity to support the education of a not-for-profit leader at MBS.
The Class of 2008
To mark their graduation, the around 60 members of the Class gave gifts to create the 2008 Keynote Speaker Series . This brought alumni and students together throughout 2009 to hear from three distinct and different leaders as they tackled the issue of the global financial crisis. Over three terrific evenings, the School welcomed Mike Smith - ANZ CEO, Ahmed Fahour (MBA 1993) - Gulf Finance House CEO, and Emeritus Professor Ian Harper - Access Economics.
The EMBA Class of 2007
Sensing a unique opportunity to come together and do something positive for others, the EMBA Class of 2007 raised over $40,000 to support two projects. Their Class Gift funded MBA internships at not-for-profit organisations and also supported ovarian cancer research at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences.
The Class of 2006
The Class of 2006 are leaving a legacy of their time at the School by collectively making gifts to form a scholarship that will support the education of future MBS students. Their Class Gift continues to build and will be distributed in 2011 - the fifth anniversary of their graduation.
The Class of 2005
The Class of 2005 decided to do something positive for future generations of MBS students so joined together to give a gift that would grow into a scholarship - supporting deserving students to pursue an MBS education. Today, through regular pledges, their class gift continues to grow. By the time of their fifth reunion in 2010 the Class will award their first scholarship.
The EMBA Class of 2003
Inspired by a month spent studying overseas, the EMBA Class of 2003 gave a collective graduating class gift of over $25,000 to create a travel bursary which has supported a number of MBA students on exchange. Last year, to mark their fifth anniversary, they joined together once more to give an amazing $500,000 reunion gift, which will broaden access to a life-changing management education through scholarships and internships.
The Classes of 1968 and 1969
To celebrate their respective 30th graduation anniversaries, alumni from the MBA Classes of 1968 and 1969 pledged gifts to support two scholarships for outstanding MBA students. Since 1999, more than 15 students have had their education supported by the generosity of proud alumni.
