General management

Within the broad spectrum of general management topics, research at MBS focusses on international business, technology and innovation management, and business ethics.

In the field of international business, this year MBS was ranked 8th in the world, boasting three researchers in the top 50 (Xu et al., 2008). Recent projects focus on international human resource management, the internationalisation process, and the impact of psychic distance on trade.

In the field of technology and innovation, our faculty are interested in the economics of innovation, organizing for innovation, strategic management of technology intensive firms, intellectual property and knowledge flows.

Business ethics is also an active field of research with a major research project investigating consumer attitudes to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Research projects are supported by the Centre for Ideas and the Economy and the Intellectual Property Research Institute of Australia. MBS is also arguably the only business school in the world with a resident philosopher!
