FT research rank highest ever

Jan, 2008

Melbourne Business School is pleased to be again recognised in 2008 Financial Times full-time MBA rankings as one of the leading business schools in the world. We are particularly delighted with our FT research ranking of 49, the highest ever.

Our research ranking was the same as that of the business schools at University of Oxford, RSM Erasmus University in Holland and Purdue University in the USA. Only London Business School, INSEAD and Cambridge outrank us in Europe, and only Hong Kong university of Science and Technology in Asia-Pacific.

Amongst the schools we now outrank for research around the world are Darden (University of Virginia), McDonough (Georgetown University), Weatherhead (Case Western Reserve), Simon (University of Rochester) in the USA, Imperial College London, Manchester Business School and Warwick Business School in the UK and the Australian Graduate School of Management.

“I am thrilled MBS recorded one of the largest jumps in ranking this year. The ranking reflects the outstanding quality of the MBS faculty, recruited from around the world. They bring their unique knowledge and a commitment to learning into the MBA classroom, making the MBS classroom a truly remarkable place,” said Professor Richard Speed, Associate Dean for Faculty Resources, Melbourne Business School.

“We have made significant investment in research and are confident that we have laid the foundations for an even higher ranking in future. I congratulate all my colleagues on this recognition,” he added.

The Financial Times research rank counts the number of times papers from a school appear in 40 top academic and practitioner journals in the previous three years. Melbourne Business School’s global FT ranking has moved up four places to 75. The School is one of only two business schools in Australia that has its full-time MBA recognised by The Financial Times.
